Creative General Music Resource
I think we've shared this before but here's great blogger who is teaching general music to one class at a time, but all grade levels.
She has some fun ideas!
Most recently, she posted a bunch of "Minute to Win It" rhythm review games that look great!
You can see her website here:

Here is one example of her Boomwhackers/Kazoo numbers:

Nutcracker Ideas
Here's the cartoon video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byrYjX4fhmQ
Watch the video, then listen to the songs as you dance.
Music
Have them listen to a few of the songs from the ballet, then dance along to the character.
Older kids: listen and try to decide what country the song is representing.
Dance/Drama
Dance all the different countries
Be characters (nutcracker, fairies, mice, etc)
Have the gallop of the children. Some kids can be the parents, act out the parts, etc.

Thanksgiving Songs From Susan
THANKSGIVING
SONGS
Turkey
Dinner (sung to “Are
You Sleeping”)
Turkey dinner, turkey dinner,
Gather ‘round, gather round,
Cornbread muffin, chestnut stuffing,
Pudding pie, one-foot high.
Turkey dinner, turkey dinner
Gather ‘round, gather ‘round,
All of us were thinner,
‘Til we came to dinner,
Me oh my, me oh my!
Hang
Down Your Head, Tom Turkey
(sung to “Hang Down Your Head, Tom Dooley”)
Chorus
Hang down your head, Tom (clap) Turkey,
Hang down your head and cry,
Hang down your head, Tom Turkey,
Poor bird you’re gonna die.
Fatter on the mountain, fatter on the hill,
Fatter in the valley,
Now you’re gonna be killed.
Chorus
‘About this time tomorrow,
I reckon where I’ll be,
Out on the kitchen table,
Everybody eatin’ me!
Chorus
ALBUQUERQUE
TURKEY
(SUNG TO “Clementine”)
Albuquerque has a turkey, and he’s feathered and
he’s fine,
And he wobbles and he gobbles
And he’s ab-so-lute-ly mine.
He’s the best pet you could get yet,
Better than a dog or cat,
He’s my Albuquerque turkey
And I’m very proud of that
And my Albuquerque turkey
Is so comfy in his bed,
“Cause for our Thanksgiving Dinner,
We have egg foo yong instead!
SILLY
TURKEY
(sung to “Turkey In The Straw”)
Oh, I had a silly turkey, and she wouldn’t lay an
egg,
So I poured hot water up and down her leg
And she giggled and she giggled and she giggled
all the day,
And the next day my turkey laid
A hard boiled egg
Na-na-na-na-na, pass the salt!

CHRISTMAS WRAP
1. Did you know
the seasons here
with Santa,
the elves, and eight reindeer?
Santa wears
white, red, and black
and carries
toys upon his back.
He know boys
from here and there
and lots of
girls from everywhere.
Chorus: Hey! Hey
Santa! Santa Claus! (say what?)
Hey! Hey Santa!
Santa Claus!
2. The elves are
dressed in green and blue,
some of the
wear nike shoes.
Some are
small, some are fat,
but all of
them make this and that.
All year
long they pound away
making toys
for Santa's sleigh.
Chorus: Hey! Hey
Santa! Santa Claus! (say what?)
Hey! Hey Santa!
Santa Claus!
3. The reindeer
pull the sleigh around
the world
and back without a sound.
Eight of them
all flying high
while people
sleep, bye and bye.
Chorus: Hey! Hey
Santa! Santa Claus! (say what?)
Hey! Hey Santa!
Santa Claus!
4. Well, Ho, Ho,
Ho, tap your toe!
Ho, Ho, Ho,
don't you know?
We give to
you this Christmas Wrap
just to show
you where it's at.
So, have
some fun and spread some cheer
and Santa
will be back next year!
Chorus: Hey! Hey
Santa! Santa Claus!
